HOW I LOST 40 LBS. IN UNDER 90 DAYS WITHOUT FOLLOWING A CRAZY DIET OR SPENDING HOURS IN THE GYM... ALL WHILE RUNNING A 6-FIGURE BUSINESS
It seems like it was only yesterday…
I graduated college at the ripe young age of 22, excited to jump into the corporate world and start earning my millions.
Unlike many of my peers, I was actually excited to get a job.
But I was even more excited at the prospect of earning money…
I wanted to travel, reconnect with old friends, eat at fancy restaurants, and enjoy (more than) a few extravagant shopping adventures.
And then reality set in……
The stress of the corporate grind started to hit me, my bills were spiraling out of control and to be honest… I wasn’t doing anything I had envisioned and dreamed of doing in beginning my new life.
And to top it all off… I gained 30 lbs and I no longer felt comfortable in my body.
Now, you may be looking at the picture above and thinking to yourself “There’s NO WAY she was ever 170 lbs!”
But believe me… I was.
Throughout my teens and mid-20’s I survived on a diet of Ramen, Tastykakes, and Cheese Its.
Not to mention the fact that I spent a significant portion of my college years, partying to excess and going on countless drunken diner runs at 4 in the morning…
And while I certainly wasn’t setting myself up for success post-graduation, I never realized how much damage had been done.
And I never expected to end up 30 lbs overweight!
On the day when I was my heaviest, I got ready for work and only one pair of dress pants fit.
They were my least favorite pair… my "fat pants"....
When I put them on, I knew that I needed to go up a pant size... That was obvious from the roll of stomach fat hanging over the waistband.
I didn’t like how I looked… Actually, scratch that.
I HATED how I looked, and I hated my body.
I was so disgusted and grossed out I couldn’t even look in the mirror most days wondering how did I let myself get here?
Every day I would tell myself “I’m going to find new recipes and workouts that will help me go down 2 or 3 pant sizes”.
I dreamed about how good it would feel to have control of my body and feel confident when I put on clothes.
But for the longest time… Those realities remained dreams.
Even though I was “Trying my best” I would get to the end of the day burdened with guilt, feeling like I had no self control and no motivation.
I would regularly look at myself in the mirror and say “Steph… What the hell are you doing with your life?”
And do you know what the worst part was?
I allowed my lack of confidence in my body to damage EVERYTHING else that I wanted in my life.
My career began to suffer…
My finances were in a downwards spiral…
And because I was SO unconfident, I tried to fill the void by seeking love, attention, and validation from my social circle which (Shock!) alienated my friends and messed things up even more.
My issues with my self image and body weight even started to poison the things that I did for fun.
Any time I vacationed with friends or family, I found myself judging my food choices, hating myself for missing a workout, and feeling so uncomfortable in my own skin that I would oftentimes just go back to the hotel room by myself and watch movies on HBO.
I didn’t feel confident, I didn’t feel attractive, and I sure as hell didn’t feel “Sexy”.
I was a lonely depressed train wreck…
It was the most embarrassing time in my life...
Yet, no matter how bad things got, I never lost sight of my vision for a healthier body.
I never stopped thinking about my goals and my desire to feel and look healthy so that I could get my shit together and make an impact on the world.
And then, when I least expected it… My whole life changed.
A health coach stopped by our office, asking if she could provide us with a free seminar about her services.
The seminar rocked me to my core and kicked my ass into 4th gear.
This woman was a POWERHOUSE!
Her seminar rekindled the smoldering ashes that were my dreams and she reminded me of what I truly wanted.
A healthy, beautiful body that I LOVED.
A thriving career where I enjoyed what I did each and every day.
AND… The time to enjoy life and relax with the people I love.
So I made one of the scariest choices I have ever made in my life.
I hired her as my coach and got to work… And my only regret is not doing it sooner!
I was so lit up by working with her that I went to nutrition school to deepen my knowledge and learn how to coach other people through the process.
Within 6 weeks I was down 20 lbs, 2 pant sizes and was still losing weight FAST!
By 10 weeks I had lost 30 lbs, was down 3 pant sizes and all areas of my life were rapidly improving.
I was the happiest I had felt in a long long time.
The weight I lost came off easily, with less effort than I ever imagined possible.
I was finally living my dream and ready to step up my game in all areas of my life!
NO MORE fat pants, or guilt about not taking action.
I truly began to enjoy my travel experiences, my relationships strengthened and I got a promotion in my career.
By mastering my body, every single area of my life began to improve.
People were so amazed by how quick my transformation was they kept asking me how I had made the change and if I would show them how to do the same….something inside of me woke up and I realized…
This is it!
THIS is the impact that I was born to make on the world.
Teaching other women to love their bodies, love their lives, and more importantly… Love themselves.
All while living a life of fun and balance that few people ever achieve.
Upon graduating nutrition school, my coaching practice took off and I quickly rose through the ranks and built a business in the top 5% of my 4,000+ student graduating class.
People were achieving SUCH incredible results with my coaching that I had to start a client waiting list!
However, as the months progressed, I became frustrated...
I was making more money than I had ever made before.
I was definitely making an impact on the world and I was following my dreams.
The time freedom to which I had grown accustomed was gone.
I started my business to create more time for myself and the people I loved.
I started my business because I wanted the freedom to travel the world and enjoy an abundant lifestyle while I helped women overcome their weight struggles.
But the great irony of it all was that my business became like a set of “Golden Handcuffs”, keeping me tied down and stressed out.
And what’s worse?
I became SO focused on my business, and my client’s health that I started ignoring my own, and guess what?
The “Fat Pants” came back…
I REGAINED all 30 pounds and added 10 more. That’s right, 40 lbs! My worst nightmare!!!!
I was back to feeling overweight, uncomfortable and sloppy. I started sabotaging relationships in my business and my personal life and my confidence plunged straight down.
I felt like I was in my own personal prison again, pushing away the things I wanted most.
The shame, failure and fear started playing again regularly in my head. I knew I wasn't doing my best or living up to my potential.
I felt like a fraud.
I collected myself the best I could and began employing every healthy eating and fitness tactic that had brought me so much success in the past year.
But this time the scale wasn’t budging……. weight loss became hard again.
Maybe you've experienced some of what I've experienced.
- I tried to eat healthy I would:
1. Give in to unhealthy temptation
2. Eat the wrong thing
3. Not eat enough and then overeat healthy food
4. Do really well all day and then binge eat before bed
- I set the intention to work out I would:
1. Skip it because "something more important came up",
2. Start one day and then miss the next 5
3. Try to make up for 2 weeks of not working out with one crazy overexerting and way-too-intense workout
- I ate a healthy meal I would run to the mirror and see if I looked like I lost a pound. #crazypants
- I got around other women I would judge myself and compare myself to them. Feeling really bad when I would ask myself why I couldn't have more control and look like them. I felt competitive and alone in the process.
- Tried to piece together a workout plan and eating schedule based off of a combo of as many free resources as I could find (even though I knew better).
I felt stuck in a cycle of never ending failure.
I was running myself into a wall.
Which really hurts, especially when you realize that you'll never reach your weight loss goal or fully enjoy your career and financial success unless you can find the balance.....
This was the craziest and scariest time of my entire life… but looking back I am thankful for it.
Because it gave me the one piece of the puzzle that every busy entrepreneur must have to achieve not only success in their business, but their relationships, finances and body.
It gave me emotional fitness.
Having a healthy body and lifestyle isn’t about going to a gym and working out 4-6 days a week, knowing what super-foods and nutrients your body needs to keep your brain functioning at maximum performance, or filling your closet with weird gadgets and tools designed for biohacking.
It’s about learning the other 90% of sustainable weight loss that most people never discover.
It’s about realizing that you no longer need to be obsessive, fearful, feeling guilty or anxious over your food choices or what diet will work best for your body.
It’s about knowing that your lifestyle is designed in a way that you can truly have it all and fully enjoy every elevating experience life has to offer.
I don't know how a person, particularly a busy entrepreneur, can effectively lose weight (practically speaking 30lbs or more) and keep it off until they master emotional fitness.
This is the stuff no one is talking about, and no nutrition and fitness companies are talking about because then you wouldn’t need them.
Of course daily movement and proper nutrition are key elements in a healthy lifestyle blueprint…
But you have to ask yourself...
“Do you want to feel like a prisoner to a fitness routine or dietary lifestyle in fear that taking a week or two off will sabotage your efforts; or would you prefer to maintain a healthy body, happy relationships and a thriving business all while looking and feeling INCREDIBLE?”
I realized that if I was going to lose 40 lbs and keep it off this time, with a busy schedule and a rapidly growing business, I had to do something different.
I needed a blueprint and a different formula for sustainable weight loss.
Here's exactly what I did:
- I started by creating a 4 step formula for weight loss based around emotional fitness. I changed my mindset towards my body, food, fitness and health by removing the limiting beliefs that weighed me down. This almost instantly helped me lose weight. I mapped out exactly what worked and what didn't and put it into an easy to follow process.
- I started implementing these 4 steps week by week in a framework of what I knew would deliver the best results in the shortest amount of time for the greatest transformation. Then I took my first few clients who were in the same boat as I was through the exact same process once I completed it. We went through what is and is not actually healthy, which health foods deliver the best results for weight loss and what workouts burn fat the fastest.
- Next I created a done-for-you routine that's a necessity for effortless consistent action which is what generates long lasting results. This freed up a lot of time because it took out the guesswork.
- Then I built a community, what I call a HIVE, of like hearted women with similar goals to support our goals, celebrate wins and turn to when we needed extra love and support as self doubt and sabotage tried to creep in.
- Finally, I set up systems to counteract all the little fears that come up and celebrate every win no matter how small while still striving toward future growth.
Now that my system was handled, I was READY.
Ready for what? Ready for that damn weight to drop off my body.
Yes, I had been resistant to taking time to systemize my weight loss process with emotional fitness because I had never done anything like that before and I didn't know what the outcome would be.
Not only would I spend a ton of time and money creating it, but I wasn't sure what the result would be...
But I plugged my nose and jumped into the cold water.
I started creating the 4 step formula… And then I put it to work.
I lost all of the 40lbs I had struggled with (alleluia🙏) plus my first three busy boss lady clients each lost 25-30 lbs (at least 3 dress sizes) in under 3 months time.
Now that I knew I had a working process, I spent the next year watching to see if we would all maintain it, while I simultaneously began testing the process with more busy women.
One year later over 100 women had gone through the 4 step formula collectively losing thousands of pounds and keeping it off.
By July 2017, over 500 women had experienced lasting rapid weight loss and happiness from this formula.
Even more powerfully than the confidence they have in their bodies, these women are living better lives.
Their increased confidence lead to higher financial earning in their businesses, deeper connection in current relationships and many new relationships, 70% higher levels of happiness and the ability to finally enjoy the life they had created for themselves!
They felt like their health was on autopilot for the first time in their lives.
I personally stopped working out as much because I don't need to, the systems (specifically emotional fitness) gets your body healthy without much physical effort.
What's interesting is that you may see those results and think, "How the heck did they do that so fast".
And that’s where some of the biggest challenges lay.
Most talented women with unpredictable schedules find themselves stuck, unsure what to change without any time or motivation to be healthy.
I meet driven female businesswomen all the time who can't enjoy their lives because their health and weight is such a challenge in their hectic lifestyle or they will lose weight temporarily but it doesn't last.
But business women, 6 and 7 figure digital entrepreneurs, and influencers have been speaking up asking me how I lost that 40 lbs and have kept it off through my hectic schedule as a 6 figure earner, owner of 3 businesses all while modeling and acting.
These are people who are committed to living life to the fullest and enjoying the income and lifestyle they've created to the fullest.
