I'm here to share more solid information about how to build a better body and maintain it year round with minimal effort.
In the last email we talked about the first step in maintaining your body which is to start learning, practicing and building a healthy mindset DAILY. If you haven't already seen this video, go back and watch it now...you'll be glad you did.
Today I'll share with you the next two steps to maintaining a healthy body and ironically enough, it's not what you think.
The first is how to create a food plan that's smart on cost and time AND tastes amazing while nourishing your body. The next thing I'll explain is how to create a workout plan that you'll enjoy wherever you are.
I'll also give more detail about how to have the mindset of love that allows you to "want to" live a healthier life.
In the last email I shared my story about a painful time in my life where I gained 30 pounds after having lost 30 pounds months prior. I yo'yo'ed and binge ate and was really frustrated because no matter how many diets or workouts I tried I couldn't get that weight off. I got to a point where I was so frustrated that I wanted to give up. I thought, maybe I'm just supposed to be overweight and unhealthy the rest of my life. That weak moment lead to a stronger moment where I said NO WAY, I want more from my life! I wanted a healthier, happier, better lifestyle so I committed to learning how to do it in a way that required minimal effort and could actually be fun!
The change I made was my mindset. I was hard on myself. REALLY hard on myself. I let myself down when I gave into unhealthy food, binge ate, and chose my laptop over the gym. Missing a workout seemed like weight loss suicide and giving in to unhealthy food was something I hated, but couldn't stop.
I shared with you how I realized that perfection is not the goal. Perfection is a way to keep yourself from ever achieving the goal. We're humans and humans make mistakes. What we can do is love ourselves and be kind when we fall off track.
Once you have the mindset down, this is where the game plan comes in. Healthy, great tasting, quick and money effective meals, and workouts you enjoy are key. I know you don't want to spend a fortune or spend extra time eating healthy. I also know that you want the nourishing food you eat to taste good too. I totally get it, growing up on a junk food diet, I have high standards for super flavorful food that tastes great.
So how can you have it all? The first step is figuring out where you can get the highest quality food for the best price. Do this by visiting different supermarkets and even places like TJMaxx and Marshall's, then record your findings, compare prices and make a list of the best so that you know where to go for each food item. (If this seems like more work than you want to do, I have a done-for-you list I've created that is a bonus in the Body Built by Love 7 Day Starter Program).
Step two is preparing your meals ahead of time. Choose one day each week that you dedicate to pre-making your meals. This will make it ultra fast to have healthy meals during the week. Isn't it true that on busy days you grab whatever is easiest? Why not make the easiest thing to grab your pre-made healthy food (I'll walk you through this in detail in the Body Built by Love 7 Day Starter Program). The next key is learning to use spices and herbs to flavor food. Start experimenting with spices you've never tried. This is a game changer and it's something that the hundreds of women who have followed my nutrition plans rave about each and every program. They can't believe how good the food tastes. They also can't believe that their boyfriends, husbands, kids and other friends and family members love the healthy meals too.
The second part of maintaining a fit body effortlessly is to start doing workouts you enjoy, wherever you are. Again it's about longevity. I'm not trying to do a workout that I dread for the rest of my life and I'm sure you aren't either. I'm giving you permission to stop doing workouts you don't enjoy. There are too many amazing ways to be active and move your body in fun ways than to corner yourself into just one that you don't like. Instead, try doing something that excites you; maybe it's dance, maybe it's acroyoga, maybe it's strength training, maybe it's barre class. Whatever it is that looks fun, try it! The other element is adding fitness into everything you do. The old belief system is that we need to do an hour long workout and leave dripping in sweat to actually get a "real" workout. NOT TRUE. I'm the perfect example of this. I haven't run or left a workout dripping in sweat in over a year and I'm in the best shape of my life. If you simply integrated movement into the consistent things you do daily, you would change your body. If you take the stairs instead of the elevator, if you do planks while you watch TV, if you do 30 walking lunges on your work break, if you stand on one leg while you brush your teeth - these things all add up! A healthy body is all about consistency, so why wouldn't you just add movement into the things you already consistently do? It's a no brainer.
An important element to being active in everything you do is to have the right form while you do these daily movements. Repeating the same thing over and over every day the wrong way is how you can hurt yourself. Consistent training of a muscle or muscles improperly will cause them to tighten in the wrong places and that's how you pull a muscle or hurt yourself. I don't want that and you don't want that. My fiancee Josh and I will lead you through the right form in the Body Built by Love 7 Day Starter Program.
The other thing I promised I would share in this email is how to get better at creating a healthy mindset. The reason this is so important is because when we are hard on ourselves for not completing something or following through we automatically give ourselves a fall off track for another day card...do not pass go...do not collect $100.
Disappointment is un-motivation (yes, I just made that word up).
Celebration is motivation.
Here's your new mindset and new way of living. Instead of feeling disappointed about not following through, look for something you can celebrate. Because it's not about the giant steps, it's about the baby steps.
When you can celebrate the little things -----> you feel good.
When you feel good ------> you want to keep feeling good.
When you want to keep feeling good ------> you want to do things that are good for you (like eat healthy meals or workout).
This isn't only good for you, because you get a better body, but it's better for the world. Because when you feel great you want to share it and it inspires and lights up every life you come in contact with. And don't we all want to be someone's inspiration, motivation? DOUBLE WIN.
Learning this was the hard part. Putting it into action was the easy part. I think that this concept is one of the most pivotal things someone can learn to be successful in their life. Learning to go easy on yourself not only generates a better body but it brings better relationships, a better career and greater success in every area. It's all tied to this one main thing.
I have many resources to untwist the mind from negative thinking to kindness. Most people have no idea how hard they are on themselves themselves until they take stock.
