Cha Cha Cha Chia Seeds
How to have abundant long lasting energy from one simple superfood!
Energy Powerhouse!
Does the name chia ring a bell? Believe it or not, the same seed that made the popular Christmas present years ago (cha cha cha chia!), the chia pet, also has tremendous health, endurance, and strength properties. The little black seeds were used as a staple in the diet of many ancient cultures such as the Incan, Mayan, Aztec and Southwest Native American. They used these seeds as a high-energy endurance food, especially for their running messengers and ancient warriors who would eat them and run long distances with an incredibly sustaining surge of energy. It was well known among these tribes that chia seeds gave the warriors stamina and strength. Ever heard of the Tarahumara Tribe? They are known for running up to 120 miles over a period of two days and guess what they use as fuel for running these long distances? You guessed it, chia! In case extreme endurance, strength and energy used for hundreds of years hasn’t already motivated you to go buy a bag of chia seeds, read on.
Workout GOLD!
Chia seeds are at the top of my list of excellent pre-workout foods. I eat them before my early morning swims, after an intense strength training session or for a quick boost before an afternoon run. They give me a ton of energy! I now look forward to and enjoy my workouts more than ever, which is something I wouldn’t believe I would ever say 2 years ago. Having the energy to take on a huge hill, complete that last set or feel energized enough to go for miles without feeling drained is invaluable. Having tons of energy means taking your mind and body to new levels. Learning the power foods that work uniquely for your body through health coaching is what can get you there and these chia seeds are the perfect way to kick it all off! P.S. – Chia seeds were part of the superfood smoothie I drank before my 3-hour, 13 mile, 28 military obstacle course called the Tough Mudder (https://www.facebook.com/StephHendel/photos/a.423146314449867.1073741840.391625870935245/423146374449861/?&theater) back in November.
